I'm using an r-mod on my PAL PS2, just got a load of new games on dvdr but all the USA one's won't play in colour. T'would appear that my TV doesn't support 60Hz, can anyone think of a possible solution, short of buying a new TV?

I was thinking perhaps a solder mod would contain some kind of conversion facility in the chip, is this the case?

Otherwise, is there some way I could have my PS2 go through my VCR (says it's NTSC compat)??

    Merry christmas..

Take a full scart cable to connect your ps2 in the tv

I appreciate the replies lads, but yes, I do have a full RGB SCART lead. It's my TV that's letting me down. I'm gonna try putting an psx RF lead through the VCR then output it to the TV to see if that solves my problem. Otherwise, I might have to fork out for an PAL - NTSC convertor from maplins.

Have you done the NTSC fix on your PS2??? This will solve your color problem, but unfortunately won't help you with your 60Hz problem.
You can try looking for a vertical hold control on the front panel or rear of your TV. If you don't find one, then you could always bust your TV open and find the V-Hold trimpot. If you don't find the trimpot, then your TV would need a small mod in it so you can switch from NTSC and PAL. But unfortunately its not a straight forward mod and it varies from TV brands.
First try seeing if you have an external vertical hold control.
    Good luck!!!

    Ahh what a task eh?

What's the NTSC fix? I thought you could only do that with an actual mod chip? I've only got a plug-n-play effort, I'd be up for trying this fix if I can though.

i've done the color fix of my ps2 v7 on the buttom of ps2 circuit board, forcing the ps2 output to ntsc by jumping the color fix point to 3.45v. not sure it can be done on the modchip
