Help me with a "Chipmod Pro+ 2.0"!

Hey, everyone. I bought a Chipmod Pro+ 2.0 from Modchip.ca, but I think I got scammed. I'm a complete noob at this and just need some help figuring out the chip they sent me.

First of all, here's a picture of what I was sent:

Is that even a Chipmod Pro+ 2.0? It says Matrix Infinity on it! Also, I ordered the normal one but the order receipt says that the one they sent me is for 90001 only. I have a version 9 at home (SCPH 50001, datecode 3C), so it's obviously the wrong chip for it.

But now for my actual questions. Is the thing they sent me actually a Chipmod Pro+ 2.0 or not? And assuming it is, and it is the one for 90001 only, will it still work in my Version 9 PS2? Please reply as soon as possible! I'm completely wigging out here!

Oh, and before I forget, could someone please give me instructions on how to install the chip into my PS2? The instructions on modchip.ca don't match the chip they sent me, and I'm afraid that it won't work <:(

you didn't get ripped off. you got what you paid for. a cheap matrix infinity clone. you can install it in either your SCPH-9000x or your SCPH-5000x doesn't matter. Just use the appropriate diagram.

That's the same install diagram from Modchip.ca. But it doesn't quite match my modchip. My modchip has a Cx, a SX, and a RE solder point on it that don't go anywhere on the diagram. Where do I solder them? Please somebody answer me quick, I really want to fire this monster up!

And yes, I totally DID get ripped off. I specifically ordered a chipmod pro, not a matrix infinity. But as long as it lets me play burned PS1 and PS2 games, I really don't care.

A chipmod pro IS a matrix infinity clone. That's what BLN is telling you.

To be honest, that's kind of what I was thinking. Now that I know for sure, I've made peace with that. Still, the chip doesn't quite match the installation instructions and that is giving me trouble. There is nowhere to solder the Cx, the SX, and the RE contacts to. I've already figured out that they probably solder to RST, Z, and S, but in what order? Which goes where? AAAGH!!! Why don't they match?!?!?!?!!! Can someone PLEEEEEEEEAAAAAASE tell me where to solder what?!

Thank you guys very much. I got it all figured out not (I hope). The modchip.ca guys finally responded and e-mailed me a proper install instruction.

I just recently got the same chip - My first install would only boot PS1 games (just like they were originals), but I couldn't get PS2 to boot, nor the modchip's bios screen


I reinstalled a second time, moving the chip to a new location, shortening the power cables and exchanging the 30 gauge power cables to 22 gauge solid core (telephone wire)... nothing.... turned out the motherboards grounding plate caught one of the wires between the screw, grounding the chip causing no screen to appear.

I reinstalled a THIRD time, using my own 30 gauge wire (the same power cables) - I changed out the wire for 2 reasons. the wire they provide won't tin properly and is hard to catch in cured solder; the wire I had could. I also wanted to make sure all the connections were 100% connected. The first install all the wires were checked with my multimeter, but is was still unsuccessful? I could only attribute that to the power cables being 30 gauge and long.

FINALLY it works, (after using another website's installing instructions) - but now Playstation 1 games don't have their intro screen. You know, the black screen where it indicates a PS1 game. ALSO the backup disc shows as a purple disc in the browser (still labeled "PlayStation" and not ps2) unlike the first install's. - - just a long black screen, then the game starts - - originals still have the screen AND the black disc? I could only guess because it wasn't programed with a custom screen like the PS2 start was?

Did the same happen with anyone else? (matrix infinity 1.93)




]The COOL thing about having this chip and the Free MCBoot hack is, you can force the screen to always stay in NTSC (or PAL for the 50hz friends here) even through HDLoader and Open PS2 Loader ( OPL ) - so you don't have to ruin your images by patching them, it just works. I wanted to document that for others, I searched for the subject, but couldn't find it before getting a chip. ALSO, the chip boots ESR modded images (which are easily unpached if necessary) so your current backups don't have to be reburned.
