Help! Matrix infinity install...
Help! Matrix infinity install... –
I just completed a matrix infinity install in a v9. Let me state now that I have never modded a playstation before but have been in electronics for nearly 15 years. What a P.I.T.A. it was to solder to those legs..
Anyway, install seemed to go smoothly. everything routed nice and neat and as short as possible. As far as I can tell no bridging. While I was in there I went ahead and did the romeo mod as well. (lifted 17 and connected to 5v via)
Put the ps2 back together and plugged in the pads and plugged it into the tv.
At this point, no disc in it. it came up with the browser. I was happy. I then stuck an original disc in and reset it. nothing. black screen. not happy. power down, reboot, still nothing.remove the disc, reset, still nothing. WTH?!? It just booted with no disc in it a minute ago!!
hit the power switch and walked away to scream and yell... came back after a few minutes and powered it up. booted it by hitting eject button.
It booted to the browser. So here I figure I will see if the infinity is responding. According to the matrix team if I hold start it will turn off/on with a message on the screen. hold for up to a minute. no message. (not sure if it would work normally in the browser screen anyway. Does it?).
Power down and reboot nothing. stick a memory card in slot 1. reset. it boots. reset again. nothing. scream some more...
To sum it up, I have no clue what to do? I can not systematically nail down exactly how it is working because it is random. I do know it has yet to boot with any disc in it. always black screen. It will randomly boot with tray in/out/ memory card in/out..
I had this ps2 for about a month to test before I did anything to it. This is my first ps2.. I seem to recall it giving a "Playstation 2" message or something on startup every time but I dont see that now when it boots, only the sony message of the browser. Does that playstation 2 message only come when booting from disc? Or should it be there regardless?
Please help! I have a 5 and 7 year old stuck inside on a rainy day and they cant play their new Ecco game!!!
use 22 gauge wire (22 AWG) for CLK (Y), GND, and PWR.
CLK wire being too small could cause this? ack! shouldn't matrix team mention this in their instructions?!? OK will begin dis-assembly again unless anyone has anything else to check before I gut this thing again...
