hi all, first sorry for my bad english

I need some help, a friend and i installed two magic 3, the first in a v7, works fine, load all games etc. The second magic 3 we installed in a v3 pal gap (bios underside), you know that the soldering points are very dificults, afther many hours the modchip work, load ps1 backups and originals too, play DVDmovies, and load ps2 CD games, but don't load ps2 CD backup (the same backup that's work in the v7).

my question is: Exactly wich points are the ones who send the signal to bios, to corfim that the cd is a ps2 game?

We inspected all the soldering points, and they are fine.

I know that: the s point is for ps1 signal
What point is for ps2 signal?

    Thanks for your help.

    Greetings Londo Mollari

I realize that you are using the Magic 3 and what I am about to say pertains to the Magic2. However, keep in mind, the Magic 3 is the EXACT SAME CODE as the Magic 2. The Magic 3 is just a "universal" design of the Magic 2 code. Essentially, the Magic 3 IS the Magic 2 for all versions wrapped into one chip. Pay attention to my test results toward the end of the thread:

Now, see how I fixed my Magic troubles.

Unfortunately, I'm afraid that is your only option if you want 100% success. The tests that I performed show pretty clearly that the problems encountered with the Magic chips are a result of the chip itself. Search the forums and you will see MANY other posts complaining of similar difficulty. There is no resolution other than to change chips.

Has anyone had "very good" results, after modding a PS2 version 3, with the Magic 3 chip and gotten everything to work???? I am only interested in Magic 3 results with PS2 ver. 3

afther many days looking in many forums i don't find nothing that can help us, but i think that meyousikmann pointme in the correct way to solve the problem. I see that there a many comuns point in the install of messiah2 and magic 3, in a v3 non-gap. That points are soldered in the bios and in messiah2 install they are named M, N, O, P, V, U, T, Q (the same letters that in the magic3) that are conected in the pins of the bios. I have a v3-gap (and the bios is in the underside of the motherboard) and for magic3 that same points are soldered in via points near of CD/DVD controler, but in the diagrams of the messiah2 are soldered direct in the pins of the bios (that is underside of motherboard). I think: if the v3 non-gap have the same points for the two chips (magic3 and messiah2) probably with my v3 gap i can use the same point that messiah2 and conected direct in the bios underside of motherboard. I compare the points of magic3 and messiah2 in other version of ps2, and i find the same comuns points. I think that the makers of messiah belive that the via points (for v3 gap) are not good.

In the case i'm rigth, what's doing that points (M,N,O,P,V,U,T,Q)?
They tell to the bios that the inserted disc is a ps2 game?

I don't try to soldered that point direct to the bios because i'm probably wrong, but i'm not sure.

Can some one tellme what function make that's points?

    Thanks for your help.
