    Good day all,

I have been trying to enter the wonderful world of ps2 modification. I purchased a 3.1 magic chip and broke out the old ps2 v3. I have been attempting to attach the wires to the chip legs. I have been working with I,H,G specifically. I fugured if I could get those then it would be easy sailing form there.

Needless to say I didn't get past that point and am ready to concede to the solder gods. One problem ... it won't work.

So I plug it in and turn it on and get a black screen and the CD tray will only open after pushing the eject button 3 times.

    I have:

    Checked all my ribbon connections
Checked the chip legs and the seem to be intack
CO2'd the board to remove metal/dust etc.

Any suggestions to a desperate newbie ???

mmm you have a bridge on the bios or the cd/dvd controller bus chip ( g,h,i,d,b,c,a ) i would coat the legs with soldering flux, the take your deoldering braid and apply to the affected areas..

My thanks to you for your response. Unfortuenetly my hast has caused a little more damage then I had intended. I have officiall removed a chip leg and feel that in a manner of speaking 'flat lined' my ps2. I would imagine that this is not rectifiable.

Any suggestions would be great. But my hopes will have to lie else where.
