Help installing Duo3 Ultra (add tips)
Help installing Duo3 Ultra (add tips) –
12-04-2008,10:16 AM
Okay this will be my first mod job and have a couple questions
I am looking at a DUO 3 Ultra Modchip and am getting it from ModchipOutlet, anyone have any experience with either the modchip or this site?
Okay, I know to use a 15watt soldering iron, but what about what kind of solder mixed with flux....from the looks of it I can get this in either a paste or like a coil...is either better than the other?
Also when looking at this diagram for the chip on my version 7 ps2
http://duomodchip.com/english/instal...o3ultra_v7.jpg
Looking at the install diagram I am okay with all 4 numbered boxes...but the one box that is unnumbered, (the one containing points G,H,I) I cannot locate for the life of me on my ps2. Any idea what and where that is on my ps2?
Thanks

Look on the underside of the motherboard. And then you will find it.

As for the soldering.....
1. A soldering tip at max 0,5mm
2.Use only thin AWG kynar wire
3.Use a glassfiber pen to sratch a little on the points where you wan´t
to solder.
4.Use flux and pre solder a little dot on the board´s via-dots where you wan´t to put the wire. Not the points on the IC theere you wan´t to presolder a little on to the AWG wire.

man, looking at that diagram, m, n, o and p points would make me pull out my hair trying to solder... Before I even think of doing something like this I will have to practice *alot* on an old motherboard or something...
