  1. #1 Help .. did my modchip die?
    lupohki Guest
I have a XO-2 installed in my V5. It worked fine for about a month or so, but now I get the "insert a PS2 disc .." screen when I try to boot a DVDR or CDR. Originals work fine though. I opened her up and all connections were solid. I even resoldered some known troublesome points to make sure.

Did my modchip die or did the laser wear out? Has this been known to happen?

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for the info, I'll give it a shot.

Apparently the pic in the FAQ is for V1-3. I have a V5 and the layout on the laser is different.

I took a pic of my laser. Could you tell me which is the DVD pot?

I tried adjusting the DVD pot from it's default 8xx to 700, 1100, and 1200, but I'm still getting the same result of the red screen.

One thing I'm seeing is that PS1 CDR games boot, but not PS2 CDR games. Is that an indication of a bad modchip then? The PS2 CDR games goes straight to a blank screen, not the red screen like the DVDR games.
