Help for buying a premodded PStwo

Ok I want to buy a premodded PStwo in Hong Kong and therefore I need to take care that i am not going to be ripped off.

I want to have either a Matrix Infinity or a Crystal Chip built in. The cons I see are:

Infinity: Alot of fakes. I need to see the actual chip to be able to know if it is a fake or not. (using the pictures from the matrix team)

CC: Difficult to find someone who sells the modchip in pre modded units. I need to use cracked firmware to enable everything i want while not beeing able to check what the cracker actualy did.

I think the CC would be the better option but I am not sure if I could find someone who sells them in HK.
Does someone has tips how I cant be sure to get an original Infinity chip if they wont open the PStwo for me?

Any advice?

for infinity tell them to flash it in front of you should knock off most fakes but not all as some got over their copy protection

good idea.

What can I see if they are flashing the PS? They are putting in the disc with the update, restart the whole unit and thats it?

Download a copy of the firmware that is later than v1.40 - these have anti clone protection and will render a clone useless.

Failing that ask him to change the settings in the infinity config menu - if it is a clone yet again this will screw it up.

To be honest I think you will be hard pressed to find a real Infinity installer in Hong Kong as they favour the clones / magic style chips.

Dont buy any per modded ps2 in HK. Buy a brand new ps2 and watching them put the modchip on!

exept that it will render the console useless once I get back to my home country...

No, i dont want to import every single game from japan and I think I have the right to watch DVD movies from different countrys without buying a dvdplayer for each region.

all you are going to find in hong kong will be clones , mostly ice and magic clones . wait untill you get home to order 1 or order 1 from a reputable seller online so you know what you are getting .
