I used La 6508 RII replacements found at lik-sang and they were very good,no bad results jet,But you must keep in mind that when the LA blows the laser cuils are normally fried aswell and you need to check that.

    I have change about 100 (original LA6508).
    All works great.
I use hot air station to remove and 15w ANTEX iron to solder the new.
And apply the Romeo mod in all .

I have changed 30-40 original LA 6508 and few LA6508 Clone on PCB all successfuly.
Hot air gun is the best for this, but if you don't have it then you can do it with your solder ( cut the legs of the burned LA, desolve the legs from the motherboard, then put a new LA on its place and solder it using flux )

i just use rosin flux, desoldering braid, a sowing needle and soldering iron(set about 450 C) never had a fail replacement. i jsut put flux on and get all of it off then bend the pin up and do for all pins and the big pins i just push with soldering iron and it comes right off, never a lifted pad or anything.

How to know if your LA is broken:

Well, take the multimeter and put it/select on Buzzer/Continuity Mod
It is really important that you put the RED tip of your multimeter
to the pointed blue zone with the black arrow (it is any GND point).

WARNING!!! The DVD Drive needs to be disconnected to do this
The black tip of your multimet

    ------------pic of la----------------------

er place it in every leg from 17 to the 21

    EVERY VALUE MUST BE BETWEEN 0,6 and 0,7 (600 y 700 on buzzer/continuity mod)
Except the 17th leg that in case of it has the voltage reduction fix done would have to give
    a lower number value
If not your LA is death

If this is your case u need to buy one, u could do it HERE (the link)

What kind of value are we looking for? Ohm or voltage? I know it may sound stupid by me, but i don“t get values like 0,6 or 0,7 ohm. It is ALOT higher! Why does it matter where you place your probe if you measure the resistance?
