H20 Problems on V7 –
Hey guys, I just installed an H20 on a PAL (aus) V7 PS2, and am having strange issues. The Ps boots original PS1 and PS2 fine, But when I try play an NTSC backup (from Thailand) I get the RSOD. I checked my connections before I put it back together and they looked fine. The power/reset switch is also a bit weird. Now the eject light stays on all the time. Also nothing boots from the browser, and whenever the tray is open, the RSOD comes up as well. Wish I had more info but I'm in a rush as I'm late for work. I'll do some more tests when I get back tonight.
In the mean time, does anyone have any ideas? Any help is very much appreciated. thanks
Ok I've done some testing and the RSOD appears when the tray is open, or an NTSC game is inserted, or a PAL backup. So it pretty much acts like an unmodded console except for the RSOD while the tray is open.
I took it apart and cleaned a few solders up, I also found that the GND was quite loose and probably wasn't making any contact. I thought I had found the problem when I re-soldered this solidly. I put the PS2 back together and it behaved in the exact same way as when the GND was loose. I took it apart again and my new GND solder is still perfectly solid. Would this mean my 5v needs attention? Also, what kind of wire do you use for your 5v and GND conections?
Thanks in advance.
Remove the chip and try to get the console to work like it did before.
It's okay, I found the problem. My A wire was soldered to the little transistor thing that looks exactly the same but is about 1cm higher. I must have done it late one night and failed to pick up on it during subsequent investigations.
I'm such a n00b. Oh well, I'll do it right next time.
Thanks for the help.
