H20 Pro & v14 (GH-040-52)
H20 Pro & v14 (GH-040-52) –
Okay so I bought a v14 slim PS2 and a H2O Pro mod chip..
After emailing modchip.ca about their shitty directions (which are wrong for my version anyways) and searching endlessly for someone who had a similar problem, I ended up finishing my install with what I think is correct. The best I could find is someone who had a GH-040-51 mobo with the same problem. I used a picture he posted and said he used to finish his install.
Did all that, solder points are ALL good, nothing is loose.
Plug it in, turn it on and the TV turns to black (instead of saying Input 2). So the TV is getting some sort of signal. Otherwise, nothing. The fan spins up and all but the CD drive sits there dead and there is no PS2 logo or any other signs of life. Tried booting with no cd, etc. No difference.
Does anyone have this mod chip and this board? If so can you show me where you got directions?
I'd call modchip.ca but they say they don't take tech support calls. This is the last time I purchase anything from them...
Any other help would be greatly appreciated.
Sadly my digital camera requires a shit load of AA batteries that I don't have right now so I can't even take a picture of it to post up. But if it'll make that much of a difference I'll run out and buy some.
Remove the modchip and see if your ps2 works again.
That doesn't help me unless my chip is bad. My main concern is the points may be wrong. So again... looking for someone who installed this chip on this board to chime in with what diagram they used.
This chip claims to be useable all the way to v16. So how can they not have install directions for it?
Those are the directions I started with. Problem is my motherboard is different than that one and some of the points aren't even there. I used this page to help me finish it up: http://forums.psxforum.com/viewtopic.php?p=118515
I was reading another site's diagrams and they showed thicker wire for the 3.3v (mine is 5v) and the ground. I'm using pretty thin wires for my 5v/ground because thats all I was provided. Should I get thicker wire?
Yeah , Definitely use thicker wire for ground and power.(22awg). But I'm not sure that this would be causing your problem. Are you sure the problem isn't the av cable that plugs into your TV. Have you tried your ps2 on an other TV. I can't really comment on the v14 board as I haven't done any but if you could go out and buy those batteries for your camera and take a pic I'm sure someone out there will be able to help. When you say that your TV "shows a black screen (instead of input 2)" I'm not sure I follow what you mean. Could you explain this again to me.
