got magic 2 installed buuuuut......

all i get when i hook everything up is a black screen when i boot up the ps2 i have an original game in there to test it out but all i get is a blacck screen. the screen does flicker for half a second b4 going completely black.....please help

i got it workin it booted up GT3 (original not copied) but now i have encoutered another problem, the dvd drive seems to be dead, all the cables are plugged in and everything what is the problem now, i know the modchip is isntalled properly cuz it did work, then i shut it off and then i must moved something and now it seems like the drive is dead.

The drive often seems dead when what i't doing is to move a quarter turn to try and get focus on the groove. Anyway it could be anything but in order of likelihood (assuming the modchip install was OK):

1 flat ribbon cables not seated properly or nicked
2 laser azimuth needs adjustment

the lazor azimuth is the white nob within the dvd drive right?
if it is what do i have to set that too it seems to be just plain white without any numbers on it or anything....i do see numbers in the plastic below the white nob

ok i read your FAQ on the azimuth laser thing
but my drive is dead all the cables are good, there plugged in with no kinks but i cant test anything if the drive is dead like it doesnt even move when i turn the system on i played around with that screw but it did nothing.
someone please help
if my drive is dead is it possible to get a new one??

Time to give it or send it to a pro. A fuse will have blown somewhere and the cause has to be found.

The same problem happened to me after a few weeks of it working ok. The screen would flicker as if it were coming up with the blue screen but the screen stays black.

I fixed it by placing some more blu-tac between those thin enamelled copper wires. I think the problem was I had 2 of them lying on the uninsulated end of the 5V wire. Its been working since.

I suggest you make sure there are still no interference problems.
