    You need a fix for v12 v12.1 and v12.2 (slimline ps2s) The summ0ne fix is cheap and it works you just solder 2 resistors on th mb and its done and it costs like 10 cents.
    (You need to limit the power going to the laser or it gets fried)

    actualy.... the magic Kx+ "shouldnt" need a fix...... but ive got mine from modchip ca and they send both 12.1 and 12.2 resistor so I did the fix.... and the pstwo still work well.

    maybe you should do it

    i put the 1.8k resistor(brown, grey, orange, gold) in, but the resistor value of my pstwo reads 683. The information at modchip.ca looks like it say only put that in if my resistor is 606 or something, couldnt see what that number is.

    its written upside down... but if you dont read 303 then its probaly the other one...

    There is an 01d series resistor also. Those require 4.7k for focus and tracking.
