did many searches but no luck, seems to be a rare symptom, a first for me anyway...
i came across an unmodified v7 ps2 with a problem i've never seen or heard of before, during gameplay on most games the graphics would "glitch up" (thats pretty much the best way i can describe it).
everything is fine at the beginning like intro movies/ menus etc
heres an example with devil may cry:
then when i walk around (with dante for instance) the graphics would become all glitched up where you wouldn't be able to make anything out but still be able to attack jump shoot or whatever dante can do, however the sound and bgm is still present. also if i press "start" to goto game options screen everything is normal there, but if i switch back to gameplay screen it stays glitched up..
the warranty sticker was infact missing on the ps2, but like i said before the system hasn't been modified. i tried swapping out the laser and putting in another khs-400c laser and same problems still present
i know that even unmodded ps2s tend to have solderballs in some places, but i've already looked around the bios and cd/dvd controller legs and nothing seems wrong
anybody with any ideas? any input is appreciated, thanks.

I think the problems may come from the actual EE or some other processor chip is overheating and/or damageed due to overheating. A few months ago a customer bought an old V4 that was pre-modded with a Neo chip (still have to swap discs, must be real old) and he wanted to change to a new mod that supports direct boot. When I opened it up I find to my suprise that many screws were missing, including the vital little screws that put pressure between the CPU and the heatsink. The machine itself was quite battered up, and I was amazed that it still haven't died due to overheating.
Well it could be either that or maybe the fan died instead causing similar problems.
