GH12 fixing question

My friend has a V4 PS2 that died. It started to read CDs only. This is the wellknown laser unit problem, but he could live without DVD's. But a few days ago the PS2 suddenly died. I am not sure how it happened, but now the syndrom is the following:

Power seems to be ok. Power (red) led is ok, reset button works. (at least red turns to green when pressing) But there's no picture, no sound and the tray does not eject. (and eject led does not flash)

What can it be, this had been working for almost one and a half year (chip: Neo 2.x) without any problem. (so this is not a soldering problem...) I do not belive that the laser could damage the board.

So the question is: what should I check, look at first ?

check the ribbions make sure they arent ripped or misplaced!

UM it might be a laser problem also! well heres probably the best thing you can do, go to your nearest staples, best buy , anything that sells ps2S

take the whole ps2 apart from the one you buy at staples, then repleace everything except the COVER! leave the cover one.

also make sure that the blue boxs white sticker is slow tooken off so it wont look like you opened it.

and just put everything back together, they usally wont open it to see if you took anything apart!

but dont go to any chinese stores or anything jewish these peolpe really check your shit out , because they probably do the same thing lol!

so just get pimpled 19 year old boy to exchange it for u , they could care less , they are only getting paid $6 an hour!

hopefully , this will work for you , however V4 dont use RIBBIONS now that i realize it , just see what you can do
