Like the title says, a GH-019 that does everything ( original PS2 DVD/CD, original DVDmovies, CDR backup,PSX and PS2)) but it fails/ has a lot of trouble on DVDR.

Whenever I put in a DVDR (I use RitekG05 media and Taiyo Yuden, TY02) the laser goes mad, trying to read but it can't, ticking against the DVD and such and when it does manage to do a succesfull read, it has major hickups on animations and such. ( Taiyo yuden gives the best result when starting up, but it still fails ).

I've tried a DUO3, a DMS3 and a MI, all with new wiring and a completely flawless install (I am no n00b at modding) and they all produce the same flaw.

I've adjusted the white cog and the little screw on the laser and the drive: no change ==> reset to original position
I've readjusted the pots on the laser: no change ==> set back to original values
I've exchanged the laser with one of my own, wich I know is working:no change.
I have exchanged the snakedrive: no change
I have exchanged the flatcable of the laser: no change

I've used games I know are working on multiple PS2's.

Does ANYone have a clue or a tip as to where I can look to get this thing working?

try using the whole drive out of the other one. sometimes the magent looses its strength causing the disk to slip.

happens for dvd-r video as well??... with the chip disabled??.... could be a solder splash somewhere on the board??... some v7 when i did them would have trouble with dvd-r, no matter what i did... another "maybe" idea is the eeprom has some sort of error in it, you could use the lenschanger disk, and reprogram it with the laser you're using....
    EEEEEEWWWWW... girls gots cooties
