games freezes after few min.

Hi i'm new to this forum and i hope to get help from here
i got a problem with my ps2. it won't run any original and backups dvd games suchs as FFx and soldier of fortune (both original) and the rest of originals.It first began with FFx and then the rest of my games.my ps2 model is V4 scph 30004 and i have a neo 2.2 installed it have play for a year now good all games but till a few weeks the games freezes after a few min all my games original and backups now but i still can play psx games and see dvd movies the lens is clean i have cleaned it a couple of times. why does it only with dvd games and not with the rest please can somebody help me with this problem

i've had the same problem with a neo2.2 when i used to have it i think it's just a problem with the chip, who installed it for you?

i've buyt it on the net and have put it in by a guy from that store he did a good job because he workt for almost a yaer is it possible that the chip is not that good as they have told me

If you've had that Neo 2.2 in your machine for a year, odds are the laser diode is starting to fry. The Neo 2.x is always pumping 5 volts into the 3.5 volt diode circuit and after time the laser diode will go poof...

It's a good bet you'll need a replacement laser head to cure the problem.

Great Balto, that's why I didn't give that answer!!

Anyway - I don't know what modchip he's got but DVD movies go round a different route to play. So maybe something's come adrift on the modchip or more likely the BIOS pins have become bridged or their's a hair brifging something inside.

We hope so. So this is what you do in this sequence:

1 With chip IN, clean the lens and try again

2 If no good, take chip out and ENSURE ALL POINTS ARE CLEAN. Then try your originals. if they fail then you have a laser problem if everything else is alright.

i have cleaned the lens a couple of times and it did no good so
i will take chip out and try again you will hear from me thx Charlie Balto & Kalby256 i hope it is the chip and not the Lens
