Game boots, get PLAYSTATION 2 logo, THEN RSOD! What does that mean?

I find it weird to get RSOD after the game boots and the PLAYSTATION 2 logo comes up.

This happend for me on several chips, and im wondering what causing it.
Have this problem with a h20 chip now, but DUO2SE also gave me these probs previously.

It happen maybe 1 of 7 times. The rest 6 of 7 times it boot successfully and game start.

I think you need to get a new laser or burn games to good media slowly.

Thanks Tony. It make kinda sense since this usually happend on the older machines. I just find it weird that RSOD comes after the "boot" logo.
I never had this problem on a v12,13 machine only v4,v5,v6,v7,v8.

Yeah, those are pretty old and the laser are probably worn out. Try cleaning and adjusting the laser.

Is laser problem 100%.
