Frequent red screens with DMS3 V2.0 on V7.Not 100% authentication. This is my problem. I have tried the following.

    2 Installs.
    Clean Laser.
Adjust height of lense and dvd pots(2.5% increase) with the first install.
Use TDK DVD-R. Burn at 1x. Use Nero.
Red Screens with PS2 backups, but I don't play any PS1.

Here is my install:MY DMS3 V2.0 Second Install

Thinking seriously about getting a Messiah. If I do get a new modchip(maybe my DMS3 was a bad chip), which one should I get is I want only to play backup games, with 100% authentication.

    Help!

d and e are still traversing other wire's even tho they are ground wrapped .

I hate DMS just because there is no way to make a neat installation! Wires crossing the board from one edge to the other.....Yikes!
The only chip whose designer took in mind its positioning is the MARS 501!!!

Ok I'll give that a try. Maybe this will fix it.
I don't know why it has to be so exact. What a pain in the ass. I am so tired of this. I'll give it a try. There is no way to not cross the eject wire, at least I can't think of any easy way.

Are all mod chips so picky on the install. Don't any just Work?
Bought a Messiah from foundmy.com. I'll give these last few suggestions a try, but then in goes the Messiah.

Ok took your advice on the routing. Separated D and E completely. They only cross one wire, C, and do no cross each other. They are not ground wrapped, because I do not get any black screens.

Here is the pic.DMS3 V2.0 Install Tweak

Haven't been able to test yet. We'll see.

Thanks for the assistance. I can't stand these modchips. Why was my xbox so easy?

Ok, so next time I need to not cross the back of the emotion engine, and ground wrap. Ok. I'll do that as soon as I see a red screen.

EDIT: Up I'm back already. Got a red screen booting a DVD+R backup of PS2 game. Got it on Fifth boot since redoing wires.
Well Looks like it's back into my PS2 to follow the route exactly and ground wrap.

I am seriously starting to think it's this DMS3 V2.0 chip. I think that it just doesn't boot 100% of the time. If after following the route exactly and ground wrapping it doesn't work, I'm going to wait for the Messiah and install that. I have had so much trouble with this DMS3 V2.0. Uhgggggg

if you dont see a red screen now you fixed it and need not bother

the odd red screen one in 100 or something is normal tho so dont go diving back in that case.
soooooooo.... does it seem to have fixed your original problem ?

and xbox is so easy because it's an entire bios replacement where as the ps2 mods patch critical data on the fly in realtime.
