I've done a TON of v7 installs - and I've NEVER had to do any modification to the BA chip. Not once. I'm guessing poor laser alignment or crappy media (or definitely not having the heatsink pad on) may have killed it.
lol, yeah, how dumb of me not to but the heat pad on... but still, with the ps2 only being on for a minute, i dont think that should have killed the ba... Maybe i was lucky and it got too hot too quick. Next time i am taking some serious precautions and if that doesnt work, well, the laser is new, so maybe swapping it for an old one, and for crappy media, i booted a non-scratched like new RE:Code Veronica.. That was the laser's first game EVER (it was like a childs first steps... sorry, had to add some humor to the subject). THanks again everyone, ill take all of this into consideration.
