Flux: Plumbing Flux –
Is plumbing flux ok? Specifically oatey. I bought a can from menards for $1. It was really cheap.
No most plumbing fluxs is acidic and you dont want to put that on your mobo
(dont know if what you have is acidic are not but you can get some soldering flux from RS (Radioshack)
It's lead free, dunno is that means anything.
No, don't use the plumbing flux. That's not meant to be used on electronics.
Isn't plumbing flux used with a propane torch not a soldering iron?
Plumbing flux is used to attach coper pipes together. Like the water pipes in your house. You use it with either a propane torch or a accetalene torch and either braze or solder. Most coper pipes are brazed together, braze comes in stick format commonly. But definately you don't want to use pluming flux on your motherboards.
