dvd rips –
well if you are playing rips to me thats a waste of time... and bad for your ps2, just because you know how to install a chip doesnt mean others do, and for the record i hate Z as well and he actually did not come up with the cases Thien aka auto did, Z might have helped advertize them a lil, but he did not come up with it. i mean come on how many things do we know Z to make him self... except an A**! the cases do work, they are really easy to install, and you can pick up some DVD-R games really easy. this concept is great for n00bs, then when they get tired of swapping and are ready to solder a no swap chip, they can. dont bash a good idea less you know what you are talking about.
that post was for you

i know what im talking about......rips are around 70% of the ps2 scene, not everyone has a dvd burner. Almost everyone nowadays has a cd burner, which is why rips are made. They are bad for your ps2 obviously, but so is playing dvd-rs. Dvd-rs have around 60% and less the reflectivity of a normal pressed dvd (taken from charlie_ps2's faq) so the laser will have to put through more 'effort' to read it. That's not that bad, but its still hurting it.
The flip tops are basically for newbs with dvd-r and cd based games. But if you want to get the most out of burned games and your ps2, go for a good mod like Magic 3/3.1 or Messiah 2. They have all the options you'll need to play your ps2 without too much harm, and all backups.
If you dont agree with me, then good for you. People can have a perfectly fine debate without testing/judging the other's intelligence. You dont know anything about me, and i dont post very often on this forum, so you have no source of knowledge. For all you know i could be Z or Thien under a different nick.
Now dont go saying something like "chill out dude, i was just kidding" because that will just lead to furthur arguments, and as a genius once said "Arguing over the internet is like competing the special Olympics, even if you win, you're still retarted."
A quick question, How does a no solder hurt the laser and a solder don?t, isn?t it the same media that?s being read?
Like if I have 2 ps2?s 1 chipped and another with a no solder, and I play the same ripped game in them wouldn?t they do the same damage to the laser?
Well the no solder mods aren't really bad for your laser (some of the NEO series chips were supposedly because they put a higher voltage to the laser) from what I understand, the nosolder appear to be hard on the tray mechanism. One of the reasons the dvdr's and cdr's are supposed to be harder on your laser is the lower reflectability, but also in the case of the dvd rips on cdr there is the fact that the files are not in the original order sometimes and the so the laser works harder accessing files. Of course installing a new laser is cheap and easy so its not like they will destroy your ps2 or anything, personally I'm for every method of playing backups, you just gotta figure out what's best for you in regards to your technical know how and budget, if you can afford it no swap is definetely sweeeeet
isnt it bad because with no swap the laser adjust to that disks and others when you swap its already adjusted to different media and wont adjust again

took that one to heart huh, well i have no reason to say just kidding, i think the cases are good for n00bs, or who ever else dosent want to solder in a chip, and the cases are a nice option over the no solder chips. w00t
fliptop cases –
well i got my fliptop cases in today, and i must say they work great, id say they are perfect alt for n00bs that dont want to put in a chip, and they are easy on you ps2 as well! if anyone wants more info on them email me firstname.lastname@example.org
1.) IF your backing-up REAL GAMES. youll have NO problem, with swap Magic...
2.) If your a big ole pirate Kiddie (OBViOUSLY DOWNLOADiNG EVERY 'RiP' YOU SEE) then none of your PiLES of 'ripped-down' games will work.
1:1 copies work just great as i have copied about 20-30 games i have cd/dvd and have yet to find one that dont work.
Gonna go try to copy hitman2, cuz i was shocked that you guys said it dont boot w/ swap magic! Was is w/ ver2?
