Does anyone know of any reason why a fan would stop working after fitting a modchip?

broken wire
broken plug
lost fuse

i've got another fan from another ps2, and this doesn't work either. so i don't think it's the wire or the plug. so it must be the fuse - could you specify which fuse needs replacing?
