hey, I have the same problem, I took the chip out, but left the romeo mod in. The disc does not spin and i have to manual turn it a little to have it spinning. It was working before I had the chip in. What is the problem for this? This is on a v9 ps2

I had the same problem on a JAP V10 the other day, I did the romeo mod, Then the disk wouldn`t spin, so i put the pin back down to the 12V pad and it was back to normal.. I left it like that,

hoonu: check fuse PS13. It is responsible for the spindle motor.

Here is what I did on all v9 & v10.

    For v9 I use this 5V

For v10 I use this 5V (the third arrow, little square under PS8)

Also I recommend do this Romeo fix first before try to install modchip. That mean do Romeo fix first, then try to play some original games, finally install modchip. That can make sure the fix you did is work. This is my opinion.

Yeah you mod is NOT the classic romeo so I am guessing that is where things went wrong.

What is the Actual Romeo Mod then?
I'm confused... i was going to mod my brothers silver ps2 but now im just put off!
I thought it was just simply lifting pin17 on the chip and soldering a wire from that
lifted pin to a safe 5v?
Whats with all the track cutting???

there is NO trace cutting. Lift pin 17 and attack a wire from it to the 5v source they show in the diagrams. netmech posted them.

Oh and by the way.. is it still neccessary to change PS11 and PS13 with 750mA fast fuses or is it just ok with the 5,1v connection?

    regards
