Ok. So heres the situation. ***4 Pro on V10 PS2. I tried this romeo mod here.

    http://www.ps2info.net/PHP/modules.p...showpage&pid=6

Now ever since doing this. The drive does not spin up and I get disk read errors. I have tried reconnecting the 2 areas that were broken by the cut but this did not help. What should I be doing?

Here is a pic of my board.

    Just wondering.
But doesn't the romeo-mod imply that you, lift pin17 from a certain chip and connect it to a v5.

Also, didn't you connect it at the wrong point in your board according to where they did it in the faq.

EDIT: Uhmm... what you did was not the romeo mod if im not mistaken.

    Thats the romeo-mod.

Scroll down to V10 to see what you have to do.

    or go here

    and look at the section
The V9/V10 syndrome as we know it.

I know that lifting the pin is one method. I was told that cutting the trace and running a save 5v to the pad that leads to the pin on top would work. I reconnected the pad and a part of the board so I could restore the 12v connection. However, the disk fails to spin now. From the pic I posted. I just hot glued the wire down out of the way to show the area. Any other ideas?

I may try on m old V7 though.
I just don't know where i can find a save 5v near the chip.

I think he means just start to spin it on your own and see if it picks up.

As for what you did.. my guess is you didn't cut it fully and connected 5V and 12V, giving the chip 17Vs, thus blowing it out. Do you have a multimeter? Did you check the connections before you tested the 5V?

I have a multimeter and I checked for connectivity and it wasnt connected. So I do get it. What can I check to see what was blown?
