Ok ive just intsalled a DUO into a Version 5 PAL Console

And i played a bit of onimusha 3 , and it powers off and i see a red flashing light

I start to think wtf! how has it overheated . And i realise that the fan isnt operating at all

So , i swap another fan from a V5 , ummm ok its still not spinning , i guess it must be the PSU! so i swap a V5 PSU .... and the fan isnt spinning

HELP , maybe its the connector or something but that fan just aitn spinning, is there any alternative solder points apart (like the xbox 12v) from this connector as its unusable atm

The mod works fine , the console boots up fine . Infact its fine with a fan on full speed directly next to it . But its not practical

    Thanks for Reading

Theres a 12v point on the Power supply. Dont remember which two points it is, but it's two of the four that plug to the Mobo. Sounds like it may be something more thats causing the fan to go out, heat isnt really an issue with the PS2, and if you are not running a HDD, then you should be able to play for a while without air moving inside, if it overheats at all.

Try and search for "Ben999 ps2 mods" or see his website listed in his member profile, thats where I got the points from.

    Good luck.

Yeah i played for Half An Hour , i have my Ps2 in an enclosed space it really does need a fan

i dont think the ps2 fan uses a 12v anyway , i was just using it as an example . Do you know what it uses .... i mean its no way near as powerfull as the xbox fan

Check the fuses, PS7 or PS5 - if I can remember correctly - near to the fan connector. If it blows, you can replace it easily. But there used to be problems with the regulator IC aswell in many cases.

There are several 5V points on the V5 mb where you can connect your fan to. But, I'd first check the fuses and then if the fuse blows again then I'd go 5V connection.

I sell fuses for $5 shipped.

    Edit:

Nevermind, just noticed you're somewhere in Europe. Just solder to a V5 point.
