    850 ohms was necessary for really craps mods like Magic2.x & 3.x, Neo2, and so.

    If you want a dead laser in no time, go ahead, use 800 ohms or something.

    increase resistence dvd pot in 50 ohm increments... test the dvd backups each time...

    the reason for this is that the settings are different between laser models - some are adjusted differently - the general rule is to adjust slowly in small increments and not to drop by more than 10%.

    Although in old (V3 and older (some V4)) stations you may need to adjust much more than 10% to get a result. But do this at your own risk.

    Personally I have customers give me the green light to do this even after warning them of the possible dangers and their stations are still working fine 12 months down the track.

    Also From what I have seen it is more station wear and tear specific than modchip used.

    I also recommend trying the azimuth (SP?) adjustment first as this is potentially less damaging...

    Brand new V7 DVD Pot and CD Pot both about 1280 ohm ?
