850 ohms was necessary for really craps mods like Magic2.x & 3.x, Neo2, and so.Originally posted by KNETTER2000
So.. why is it that in almost every guide you see pot values of 850 for the DVD and 1200+ for the CD...
And my getaway game is not fu**ed, it works fine in two other PS2s
thx for the feedback so far...
If you want a dead laser in no time, go ahead, use 800 ohms or something.
Gradius
increase resistence dvd pot in 50 ohm increments... test the dvd backups each time...
heh, I really don't wanna see this PS2 more dead then it allready isOriginally posted by Gradius

thx for this piece of info.
the reason for this is that the settings are different between laser models - some are adjusted differently - the general rule is to adjust slowly in small increments and not to drop by more than 10%.
Although in old (V3 and older (some V4)) stations you may need to adjust much more than 10% to get a result. But do this at your own risk.
Personally I have customers give me the green light to do this even after warning them of the possible dangers and their stations are still working fine 12 months down the track.
Also From what I have seen it is more station wear and tear specific than modchip used.
I also recommend trying the azimuth (SP?) adjustment first as this is potentially less damaging...
