  1. #1 Error Reading Discs!! Plz Help!!!!

Hi - I tried to install a dms3 v2.0 chip in my ps2 v4 (with gap) console, but failed to get it working so i decided to remove the chip. i did so but had problems booting the ps2 properly but which i tink i fixed by cleaning up the chips that i had soldered on2.
now the ps2 boots properly but i cannot get it to read discs. the first time (since i got it to boot properly) it started a game but just after starting the game gave an error (something like "attention") and stalled. since then it will not even read discs. it spins the disc like its trying to read it and moves the laser trying to read the disc but gives disc error at the end.

do i need to adjust the laser and if so is it safe to leave the dvd drive cover off and load discs to test adjustments?? or is there something else i can try?

any help would be much appreciated.

did you try cleaning the laser...leaving the system open is probably okay but you must put the black cover back on...the one with the white disc...

no didnt use any desoldering braid but i tink i will pick up some and make sure all the solder is removed. Is the dvd/cd controller a square chip that i would have soldered onto for the dm3 v2.0 do u know?

    tanx for help.
