Easy Way to Connect To Difficult Points.
Easy Way to Connect To Difficult Points. –
I had a a tough time modding a V3 this weekend, and thought i would share my solution to the difficult I & B points.
Use A Single Strand of a high quality multi strand (i was using non-copper 7 strand), pass the strand under the leg you need to connect to (this is quite tricky), once you have the wire around that leg only, twist it tightly so the strand is around the shoulder of the leg in question (kind of like a noose) and solder the twist so it doesnt unwind, lay it on the chip on top of some insulation tape, and cut it short, then solder your wire from the chip on to this - much easier than trying to solder onto minute legs.
The V3 i have used this method on, worked flawlessly, first time!!
Hope this helps
to easy to short other pins..
Surely that depends on the level of effort you put into your mods??
how can it be anymore likely to short pins than a blob of molten solder that you have no control over??
why not think logically before automatically discouraging!??
Sounds like it would work....
i wont bother with anything other then straight soldering on the ic legs ...
im using a slodering paste .... i dip the tip of the wire in it , and heat it to the leg . the wire wont move.... belive me..
bye soldering paste i dont mean the white stuff you dip the solder in .
i got kinda liquid solder , its like a cream .
anyway ... this stuff work the best for me .. i started using it like 6 month ago after i had shitload of probs with v3 normal soldering ... btw i used to install all 8 wires on the ic ...
lol, that's where you're not thinking. We modders don't put a blob of solder on it. First we coat it in flux then coat a thin coat of solder on the wire. Then flux the pin then put a little bit of solder on it then solder.

It's more messy without it. Flux allows the solder to wrap around things.
I know how to tin a wire and the leg of an ic (personally, i dont use extra flux, just solder with flux in it!)
I was only offering my solution to a problem i came across - i wasn't saying it was the best thing since sliced bread!!
whatever i find that works best in each given situation, is what i will use
