No, you don't have to. Just make sure it's a valid burn and then it should boot fine. I've been burning my own from Day 1 and playing it on my 10000 with no problems.Originally posted by cell

I tried some of the HK Silver .. it wouldnt run after the PS2 Logo shown..
for every single of my cdr game.. i need to patch it first to make it run on my ps2...
so should i ?
What chip and how are you booting it? Everything else I've thrown at my 10000 has worked....except for the odd game and DVD-RIPSOriginally posted by cell

i have no-idea what chip is it . cuz a shop did it for me .
booting method.
using utility disk to boot and the tray pop-out (disk spins) and swap the game.
Sounds like you have a Neo 2.5 or the one they released in Japan only. If that's the case, you should really upgrade it to something more useful like a Messiah 2 or Magic 3 when they're released.Originally posted by cell

From what I remember about those chips, they booted very unreliably because it was dependant on timing issues.
For me, I installed a tray switch and boot up using the Action Replay v2.
thanks for the info
but is it worth it to upgrade it ?
Honestly....it's a personal preference. Right now, I've got a DVD burner so technically, the tray switch is all I need because I can pretty much play anything, including Import Originals.Originally posted by cell

I am holding out until we get Multi-region. Those with the newer types 18000 and above, cannot play the Import originals.
If I were in your shoes, I would upgrade the chip because you can't play all that you should be able to. But....then again....that's me. You should make a decision which is based on your preference and what you can afford.
