    Hi,

    I rented Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance and I loaded it in my ps2... tried to boot... didnt do anything.

    tried to boot again... didnt do anything.

    tried to booth again and again... and it finally worked.. on the 4th try.


    yay.

    ok, today.

    i try to boot .. nothing
    try to boot again... nothing
    try to boot again... nothing

    tried to boot again literally 50 times.... nothing.

    thers no red screen, theres no black screen... it just goes up to the stage where it shows the 2 menus -- BROWSER and CONFIGURATION... ok im like wtF? it was workin fine the day before, after the 4th try yesterday it booted fine 3 times again... but now it wont boot at all???

    whats the deal, anyone have an idea? i dont think blockbuster asses will refund the $6.50 rental fee

    my CD-r games boot, my other DVD-r games boot, my other DVD original game boots.... so.. like... wtf?

    any idea how to backup metal gear solid2? i have a toshiba sdr-5002 ... can i just buy the 9 gig media and try to burn it?

    me again --- i left in that browser - configuration screen for a good 10 minutes and it just said DISC READ ERROR .... so is it the disc or is relaly my ps2?

    me again --- i just tested my original Gran Turismo 3 DVD9 game...... and im having the same problem... ok now im worried..... this NEVER EVER happened before.... was working fine up until today......

    Magic chips are known to have problems booting DVD9 titles. There is nothing you can do to fix the situation, as it is the code within the chip that is flawed. It is hit-or-miss at best and while it may work fine one day, it will refuse to work fine another. The only option is to change to a different chip.....preferrably Messiah 2 if you would like flawless operation.

    I tested several Magic 3.6's and they do NOT boot DVD9

    i got it to work -- by someone else's suggestion


    hold the reset button until the blue light blinks -- its been workin ever since.

    Holding reset until the blue light comes on right?

    with the disk in the tray .. push and hold reset til the blue light comes up.. (ps1 mode) This mode will boot all originals
