dvd9?

Will an original messiah 1 boot a dvd9 game. I've searched but cannot find a definate answer. Some people say yes it does boot dvd9 , as they have done it , others say it does not. There was that video of it booting xenosaga when it first came out , which would indicate it does.

So does it boot them or not , as some people say yes , some say no. It's on a 30003R V5 ps2 , it aint let me down yet , works fine with cheat discs , region x etc , plays them problem games that give the red screen after a while fine aswell , but now I fear it may let me down .

So yes? or no? , or should I go rent mgs2 substance (think only dual layer game here) and try myself?

That's only one post , I searched and saw that post. Yet other posts say it does and some say it does not , no definate answer. Also it booting but then crashing after , would suggest it can , but just did not like the media, also one ps2 not booting is not exactly conclusive proof.

The definative answer is in that thread but I will sum it up for you here...

The two criteria which need to be fulfilled for DVD+R9 media to boot are as follows:

1) A modchip capable of booting DVD9 media.

2) A healthy PS2 laser which is able to boot DVD9 media.

You said you have a Messiah 1 modchip and I also have one in my V5 PS2 and it CANNOT boot DVD9 even if you have the best laser in the world or use the PSX BOOT mode because the modchip does not support it...

My V10 PS2 with Matrix Infinity has no problem booting DVD9 game media whether its a HK Silver, an Original Pressed Disc or a Burnt Disc.

So when I got it , they straight out lied about it can boot dvd9. Dam them all , .

Not even like a can get another chip here without getting it imported .
