    I have just modded a working PS2 SCPH-30002 Version 3 with a Duo chip.
i checked every join, seemed ok, no shorts. i put it together, fire it up, get browser screen ok.
I go and open the tray and stick in a dvd, i click the tray button again to close it and nothing happens, the blue light blinks like it wants to close the tray but nothing happens. worked OK before the mod.
I push it shut and push the tray button and it opens again but it wont close.
Ive checked the ribbon cable, pulled it out and put it back and that seems seated ok.
anyone got any ideas what the problem is??

Also check the bios chip for any short, use a needle and scrap in between each pin to remove any bridge that may be un-detectable by the naked eye.

I don't know the DUO, but if it were a magic or magic clone, it would have something to do with the Z wire - there could be a solder splash or something in that area.

i dunno, i changed the position of the S wire from where it said to locate it on this diagram in instructions
    http://www.duomodchip.com/english/in...o2se_gh007.jpg
to where it shows on this install diagram
    http://www.cyber-mag.com/station/ins..._duo_white.jpg

    Also on
    http://www.duomodchip.com/english/in...o2se_gh007.jpg
    its got M N O P Q R T U V underneath the board but on install pic
    http://www.cyber-mag.com/station/ins..._duo_white.jpg
its got them points above the board on them vias.

i put them under as per
    http://www.duomodchip.com/english/in...o2se_gh007.jpg

but i just noticed them 2 pictures are DUO an DUO2 SE. dunno if that makes any difference or not to the wire locations. should i put them M N O P Q R T U V wire on top of the board on the vias??

i think you might have damaged the 10k resistor under Z point. this is a 4 resistors pack with the value of 10k for each. just solder a 10k and the problem will be solved.

now if you remove the z wire, can you close the tray? if you still can't you better carefully check the z point. it must have something to do with the z point, either the resistor itself or the track that links it to the dvd control chip.

removed the Z wire, tray still wont close, ive looked very carefuly around that are with magnification, measured with multimeter and there are no shorts, the resistors are ok, there is continuity along the tracks around that area so i dunno what is going on.
