    Hi all,

I have just got a PS2 with Messiah 2 fitted, thanks to charlie_ps2. I am looking to multi region the PS2 so I can watch my R1 and R2 movies.

My PS2 is a V7 PAL with DVD firmware 2.13E and according to what I have read in some of the other posts here the DVD Region X doesn't work with DVD firmware higher than 2.10 unless you do some kind of exchange with Datel. I am also not keen about turning over an 8MB Memory card to DVD Region X either, seems a bit of an expensive option. Am I right about this?

So that leaves the AR2 and the GS2.

    - Which versions are compatible with my V7 PAL PS2? Someone mentioned the AR 2.2 for V7 PAL

    - I am not really interested in the cheat code features of these devices, so which is best suited to multi region DVD and possibly Macrovision off?

    Thanks in advance.
    Regards, Remix_88.

I found some info on Blaze DVD Region Free, which looks very interesting. But, in the end I decided to go for the ARv2 as I found a local stockist who has the version which is compatible with my V7 PAL PS2 :-)

What PS are you using DVD Region Free with? Is it true that it doesn't need a Memory card to work? What is the 'setup' procedure I heard about? No one explained what that envolved exactly.

    Cheers.

If you mean about adding codes to get it to work with V7's, it just save a little file (just like a saved game) to keep the info. You won't need a whole MemCard to support V7's.

    Greets!

i use it a jap V4. Blaze's DVD Region Free requires you to play a DVD from your region before using DVD-R-F so that the code is saved on your memory card. But it doesn't save anything to the memory card though. I have never tried it without the memory card though.

other than playing a in-region DVD (IF you have never played an in-region DVD on your PS2 before), there isn't a setup.
