if you just want to take it off, use a hot air gun and a pair of tweezers. hot the circuit and lift it off. but it´s not possible to re-attach it again. the solderballs under the circuit will melt away.

It is possible to reattach if you have access to the equipment.
    A simple Re-ball kit ($5) and an Air Vac ($30,000 to $40000).
It can be placed back on.

Why would you want to remove this chip?

My guess, bad soldering killed (lifted) the copper trace off and didn't leave enough from coming ou of the controller chips to solder to.

Much easier to repair via than remove chip. But either way it is possible to repair.

Guys I am not soldering I am reseller now.
I have different installers in my region on of them didn't buy from me Magic V and instlaed Apple 2 on V8 390008 Russian bios 090. As you know apple definitely not working on that model so after insallation finished he saw that no picture only black screen. after that he desoldered apple chip and no picture. So I adviced him to check for solder balls for blown fueses nothing was found.
After that he started replace IC's replaced bios no picture , replaced CD/DVD Digital signal processor (CXD3098Q) no picture...
Thats why he asked me to make sure is it possible to change this CD/DVD controller..
If you can give some advices for the situation please post what you think, I mean what else can be reason for not having picture ..

    Thanks
