I finally got a chance to install a Duo3 Gold chip into a newer model, so I thought I would post my quick review of the chip...
SCPH-77001
Mobo: GH-051-02
See attached picture of the install
Hot Shots 3 PS2 dvd-r (Taiyo Yuden) - Booted 10 out of 10 times
NHL 2002 PS2 cd-r (Ridata) - Booted 1 out of 1 times
Coolboarders 2001 PS1 cd-r (Ridata) - Booted 1 out of 1 times
007 Die Another Day dvd-r (Ridata) - Booted 1 out of 1 times
NES Emulator (basically a PS1 disc) cdr (Ridata) - Booted 1 out of 1 times
Dev1 Mode - Booted 1 out of 1 times
I know I didn't test the cd-rs very well, but in the past I've found that the Duo3 had boot rate issues with the PS2 dvd-rs on the newer models (about 8 out of 10 times) and the cd-rs always seemed to boot just fine.
It appears as though Team Omega has fixed the boot rate issues with the 'Gold Edition' of the Duo3. Kudos to you guys! This chip seems to work perfectly - although as I admitted before, I didn't really give it a solid workout. I was more concerned with the dvd-r boot rate issues from the past Duo3 chip.
