Hey all, anyone out there install this chip before? For versions 11 and up, is their any further requirement that need to be done aside from the chip wiring? for eg, trace cutting, diodes, resistors, etc? I know for most of the other chips, you have to install something else to prevent the dvdrom from overheating, is this issue fixed in the chip?

any help would be appreciated, thx

Only on a v12 you need to install a laser fix. It has nothing to do with the chip, it was Sony's way of preventing mod chips. But they soon found out it blew the laser on un modded systems.

thanks for the response, I have a v12. I thought for a second, the chip had the laser fix integrated as well.

what is the simplest method? does anyone have any good links and diagrams for the laser repair?

    thx
