Hey, just installed a duo3 into a v14, but the diagram I used did not have a point for the "Z" connection on the chip - it boots and works with PS2 games ok... haven't tried a PS1 game yet - just wondering what it controls...
Thanks!

I can't remember what the Z point is for, but in some of the H20 installs, leaving it disconnected helped the boot-rate. Anyway, I'll attach an install diagram with the Z connection - in case you want to hook it up.
Isn't Z the point where the chip can tell if the tray/cover is open?
thanks, I'll give it a shot and see what happens![]()
Hmmm... well, finally got around to testing a PSOne disc and the auto-detection isn't working... wonder if z has something to do with that (I thought Y was for auto). Anyways, it'll still boot a PSX game if I put it in PSX mode though, so no worries.
ok, somethin is screwy... won't boot ps1 backups - it'll detect that its a psone game in the browser, but when I try to boot, it just keeps pushing me back to the browser after a mometary black screen... boots ps1 originals ok...
oh, and my console is NTSC, so I guess I should hook up the Z point![]()
Well... I'm sure the Z connection is there for a reason...
Ok, well I hooked up Z and no change - another screwy thing is that on certain backups, the PS2 will reset randomly - seems like its overheating or something... not sure, but it only does this with certain games, like God of War - works fine with GT4... weird shit - no wonder I've stuck with Xbox for so long...![]()
Is it standard duo3 or duo3gold?
As standard duo3 doesnt work very well in V14 consoles, you can hook up a 100ohm resister between VCC and GND,I also found that removing the Y wire and manually forcing PSone mode on startup works better
PS can you post a pic of your install?
