v7 eats my duo2se chip
I installed a Duo2SE chip in a v7 PAL. It's not my first installation and all points look ok. However, the console only booted a PS2 backup once on the first try and then never again. Originals work just as before. And it does not seem like PSX mode work either (no boot). And it's the same behaviour for backups on both DVD-R and CD-r.
Rechecked everything. Still no boot.
Swapped out the chip for another, and it booted a PS2 backup - but again just once and then never again.
Seems I have a console that blows my mod-chips...
Anyone with ideas on this? I'm not too interested in swapping out the chip once again for another one until I have some input on this. Thanks for your help!
I got the same mother****ing problem.
My PS2 was pre-modded an arrived today, i played 2 Backups succesfully but now the PS2 is not willing to boot any more media.
It doesn't even play original DVD's (Movie DVD)
I would be really happy if somebody could answer my question. I'm already about to throw this shit out of the window.
By the way: Hello :D
did u guys make sure u booted it up right , (holding the buttons) ........ psx mode works when the chip is disabled
Yeah, but the PS2 "ate" two of those Duo chip for me :( so after that I wasn't to excited about trying yet another Duo chip in that machine.
What I did was replacing the Duo with a Matrix MXL2 and the PS2 works like a charm now :) Crappy duo2se, don't think I'm gonna install those anymore. They only work really good in v9 imo but still they lack the RGB green-fix so no more duo for me I think....
I'm 100% sure that I boot my ps2 proper.
I just searched this forum for information about that, maybe my laser is broken ?!
Or something like that ? I read something about a Romeo Mod, because my console is V9 or V10, can't look it after atm. I already stuffed this shit in the packet, it's ready to send. I will give it to the post tomorrow.
If you just got it and its pre-installed that is what you should do, yes
I sent it back today.
I hope this guy know what he does. I want my ps2 back as fast a possible.
Do you have some tips for him ?
Can the problem be solved by adjusting the laser ?
I read about that...
I presume this was a new PS2 so I really doubt its a laser problem after just two boots.. More likely its a bad solder somewhere and one or two points are nolonger connected as they should.
I hope you get it sorted out. Cheers
Can somebody tell me something about how to protect my ps2 for future problems. Heard something of a romeo mod.
I also had a look at the V9 Syndrom thread, but 31 pages are a lot of stuff to read. Anybody got a tutorial on how to protect a V9 ?
If it was in german it would be perfect !
the mistake i almost made when installing the duo2se into a v7 console is that I, by routine, tried to connect the power line to the usual 5 volt point (like most mods like proplay etc wich use 5v for operation.)
Also the ground connection has to be good and make sure none of the wires are getting sqeezed bij the metal plates. Kynar wires will ground when sqeezed bij the metal (at screw spots for example).
I did not have a v7 console wich blown my duo2se ever before, so it's obvious a misinstall.
Anyways, good luck and succes!!
