i checked out the duo2se website and for the v9 ps2 they only show the 5 via points on the bottom of the motherboard ... for me, im not to confident of soldering onto the vias .. i have a couple of razor blades that fit perfectly between the dvd controllor legs and i think it will be easier soldering onto these.. I already soldered quite a few wires onto a PC motherboard with chips similar to the dvd controllor chip ...

what i need is a diagram that shows where to connect the BFGHI points from a duo2se onto the dvd controller legs

I myself use the DVD points as they are more conviently located. Although I beg to differ on their ease compaired to vias. Others have tried the razor blade technique, but if you cant do it freehand I wouldnt recomend it. Vias actually arent too hard if you get them right.

    Heres what to do:

    1. Use a screw driver or something with a point, no blades, and softly rub the via, dont do it hard, or you could tear it or cut its trace. Scratch it till the copper is shining, be precise and patient.

    2. You may want dab it with a little Solder Flux/Rosin, it cleans it so solder absorbs better.

    3. Lightly tin the end of your 15-Watt Iron and dab the via, it should only have enough solder to look silvery, not a bead of solder.

    4. Lightly tin the wire, with only about 1 mm of the end exposed, cur it shorter after you tin it if its too long, then place it to the via, and press with a clean iron, wipe the iron tip clean of any solder before pressing.

Also I cant find the diagrams for the pins, I just do it by memory myself, so no help there. Good luck.

i looked at the messiah2 dvd controller points and the 5 points correspond with the duo2 chip ... after looking at the dvd legs with a magnifying glass, i think ill just go with the vias ... the only problem im having with the vias is that i can't find any flux paste ... i live in vancouver, canada and i checked out the local radio shack, canadian tire, home depot, and none of them have it ... They have solder but not flux ... If anyone is willing to send me a small dab of flux paste through the mail that would be great ... else let me know where i can buy this elusive flux from

Flux also goes under the name of Rosin, Which is what Radio SHack sells it as. could be the problem.

well i searched for rosin on radioshack.ca and it came back with this

    http://www.radioshack.ca/estore/Sear...osin&pagenum=0

they all say rosin along with solder , so im assuming they all are just solder with a hollow middle where they put a bit of flux ... but none of these are pure flux

i wouldn't advise the raxorblade technique i think it's impossible to manipulate the soldering iron around the blade if u have like a 1mm or bigger tip

You dont need flux for the vias. Just follow necrolop's advise and you'll be fine even if you dont use flux. Hope this helps.
