    a friend of mine brought back his V9 claiming it wont boot anything... checked all the connections, everything checks out. Swaped chips with no luck, removed the chip and cleaned all the points. STILL will not boot originals, drive keeps spinning but nothing boots

    when I pulled the top off the laser housing the laser WAS comming on

    I dont notice any blown fuses either. How do I check the LA/LB to see if its blown?

    I get "no data" when trying to read any disc.

    I dont think the laser is sliding along the track

    Check the bottom side of all the ribbon cables that plug into the PS2 motherboard. Perhaps one of the metal strips got bent back. I had that happen once on a V10 and the laser would work, but would not move. Bent the strip back over carefully with my fingernail, and it was all good.
