Duo2 modchip won't boot ps1 backups?
Duo2 modchip won't boot ps1 backups? –
I hava an unusual problem here...
I installed a duo2 NOT SE into a v10
I can play all originals PS2/PS1/DVD
I can play all kinds of PS2 backups (dvd-r, cd-r)
I can play all DVD/Music CD back ups (dvd-r/cd-r)
BUT, the darn thing will not play any PS1 backups!!!
I did the romeo mod, I double and triple checked all connections with a multimetre, all good. I tried the pot adjustment (just in case). I have gone over the boot instructions a hundred times, still no go. I'v done several mod installs, and usually no problem. However this is the first DUO2, and for the life of me I can't figure out why it won't play PS1 backups, I always get the red cloud (put in original disk) message.
If anyone can shed some light on this, I would greatly appreciate it.
Ok just to make sure. . . . you did hold the reset button until the blue led lights up correct?
This could be your chip. I had a Duo 2 that would not boot dvd no matter what. Put a Duo 2 SE in there and fixed the problem. Hopefully you did not get a Duo 2 clone cause those are known to be shitty.
T07N, thanks for the reply, and yes I have. I suspect its the chip, I'll hafto start using the DUO2 SE. This unit is going back to the customer as is (no ps1 backups), who plays ps1 games anyway if they have a PS2!!!
This is not really a good thing to do in respect to your customers...
For my experience everytime you have issues with PS1 games and or CD games the first thing to do is to remove the Romeo Mod and test without it.
It happens once every maybe 200 or more PS2, but it does happens (and this tells a lot about quality control standards in $ony factories...).
I don't know if i can post it here but i have +- the same problem.
For me it's PS2 DVD backups that don't work...
Hi Chip&Chop, no I didn't return that ps2 not working. The frustration with it had gotten the best of me at that time. Trouble is fixed now, replaced the chip, all good now. Thanx all for your input.
