Can anyone give me assitance in getting my DUO2 modchip to start playing my backed up games?

All PS1, PS2, and import games apear to work fine. Alls CD backups work fine. However, I haven't been able to get a single DVD backup to work yet. I've tried like 5 different softwares, but no luck. Can someone tell me how they've done this?

9/10 times it's your soldering. Check your soldering for any bridging on the ic legs. Check all the wires and make sure they're going to a place they're suppose to be at.

Sometimes you can't see those a little bridges between the ic legs unless you get a manifying glasses and look very closely.

Before I take it apart again to triple-check all that, can you tell me what happens the other 1/10 times?

1/10 of the other times are bad chips.

Slipped my mind, ignisuti. Maybe you should try and check your DVD pot.

But do you get any disc reading errors when you insert a dvd backup? Or just the red screen?

Sounds more like a laser problem to me. Its booting PS2 CD-R back-ups right? And PSX CD-R back-ups right? But wont boot DVD-R back-ups, well this sounds like the DVD side of the laer is on its way out. BTW what version is the PS2 in question?

Yeah maybe he just has to adjust the pot a little. I had similar problems awhile back with CD-R back ups. They wouldn't boot until I adjust the CD pot a little.

I'm getting the red screen any time I try to play my DVD backups. I'll get it occasionally when I try CD backups too, but they usually play after a reset or two.
I bought my PS2 as they first hit the stores. I'm not 100% sure which version I have, but it's probably a V1, V2, or V3.

I'm still pretty new to all this stuff. What are my options if the laser is going out? By "pot", do you mean Potentiometer? Where is it and how should I adjust it?
