Duo V5 Help Needed ... –

Install went good (as far as i can tell), Done a messiah 2 on a v4 before and that worked ok.
Thing is DVD-R Work fine, but CD-R games go to the swirling balls for a split second, then to the browser screen saying no data for about a second then RSOD.
Also DVD-R wont boot from browser - just get "reading disc" for ages ...
What wires should i suspect??
Thanks in advance!!

check the SCEX wire which may be labelled S... yes I think it is on the DUO... make sure this is ok.
Next check your laser may need the CDR pot adjusted lower.

I have re-soldered B, I + S.
The ps2 will now boot dvd r from browser and on eject and reset, but still no cdr, now goes straight to the rsod after flicking onto the browser for half a sec.
Ps1 cd-r work fine and audio cd ...
does this still look like the laser or should i try new wire for the cd / dvd controller?
what about the bios??
cheers!!

just to let you all know - re-soldered the bios wires that were on the pads and moved them onto the legs of the chip - is it just me or does anyone else find it much easu=ier to solder to the legs than the pads??
turned the cd pot a fraction of a turn clockwise and all backups boot 1st time every time, from eject, reset or browser!!
a big thanks to shadowknyght the laser instructions on your site are a great help!! (although i dont really know how to use a multimeter to test the values!!
