I installed a Duo 3 on my V. 4 Gap bios PS2. I checked everything and everything is connected perfectly, but when I turn it on, nothing comes on the screen and the green light on the front starts to blink. What does this mean?

I attached the diagram. Square 5, power wire - is it supposed to be connected to the side of that little black box thing with the '30' on top of it?

The power and ground wires are supposed to be the thick ones and everything else thin, right?

Actually, nevermind that. The power wire was soldered to the wrong place. It starts up now and loads originals but I still can't get any backups (PSX or PS2) to load up. What the hell?

I think the chip is working. Partially at least. When I go into normal mod-chip mode and then put in a PS1 original, it goes to the menu then says 'PS2 DVD' and then starts up the game (but it's discolored). Weird, but it's a sign that somethings changed. If I go into disable mode, everything is normal. If I go into DVD mode, my DVD movies will play. If I go into normal mod-chip mode though and try to load a PS2 backup, it'll sit there for about a minute reading the disc and eventually give me a 'Disc Read Error' message. Same with PSX mode.

It couldn't be the media could it? I've tried like 10 different programs and different (verified) ISO's. Also, the PSX backup I'm trying to load doesn't load either, and you don't need special media if it's just a CD-R, do you? And the PSX backup loads up fine in my modded PSX.

    What's going on?!

here is the best way to fix this:
take out all of these wires and resolder the chip in. chances are it will work if you did it carefully.

i'm wonderig if your V4 plays DVD-R back up movies. to mod V4 and older consoles, make sure the laser still reads DVD-R before doing the mod. reading errors are laser/media/alignment related issues and it's mostly the laser issue for v4 and olders.

Ok. I'll have to get some DVD-R's then. What's the best brand?

verbatim burning at 4x. I suggest you use the little LED that comes with your chip and connect it to the chip to see what mode you are in and if it's working properly.

Ok, I'll do that. If the light comes on, does that mean the chip is working for sure?

Again though. Why would my PSX backup not work? The media doesn't matter for those, does it? It works fine on a modded PSX, like I said.
