Duo 3 gt Not working –
I've just had a duo3 gt chip installed by one of the "pros" on this board. I'm not sure if the problem is the mod chip r my ps2 so please help.
The ps2 does not "direct boot" now. Only works if I put it in "disable mode". Using the ps2 browser I get a red screen if I just turn it on and throw in a burned disc, or if I boot it with one in it. I just installed a new laser so I don't believe that is the problem.
Also, it's a v1 (which made him hesitant to touch it). I guess my question is how do I figure out what's causing the problem and how do I fix it?
Duo 2 GT? Those were kinda crappy. The modchip probably burnt out on you. I had a lot of faulty Duo 2 GT.
No, it's duo 3 gt according to the site I got it from . That would suck if that's the case. I notice that sometimes (when it just goes to a blank scene) the "playstation2" logo looks funny, like it's a lighter block with text on a black background.
Is there any way I can tell for sure if that's the case?
Take it back to the guy who did it for you and have him fix it. Why should you be responsible to repair it?
As far as I know, a glitchy-looking logo is due to the modchip - and not a laser issue (although I'd be concerned about the shape of your laser - as it's a v1).
I replaced the laser because he said it as weak.
I'm hesitant to send it backe becuase A) he sent it out telling me it was a laser problem B) didn;t want to work on it in the first place and C) took two weeks to even look at it and *really* dragged his feet on the whole ordeal
Well... it could be a bad chip or a poor install.
