Duo 2SE Chip Overheating????

A customer took home his ps2. He played it for a while and then he told me that it started rapidally reseting itself many times and kept doing that unstill he turned it off from the back. Then after 10 minutes or so he turned it back on and it worked for a while and then did the same thing. I couldn;t find any bridges or bad connections after he brought it back. Is the chip the problem. It's a V7 and the reset is not bridge with the ground when the ps2 is off but i haven;t checked it when it was on.

Have you tried removing the chip and then checking if it did the same?
