hi i recently installed the duo 2 se on a v4 ps2 with a no gap.. the ps2 booted up fine but would get the cant read data error when reading retail disks. i just wanted to know i havent been keeping the wires on the install as short as possible and was wondering if that makes a difference or not.. also are there any wires that shouldnt crossover at all?? ive been using 30awg wire for all points and for the pwr and grnd i use like a 20awg. I am not new to soldering .i have soldered many xbox's.

The laser is mostlikely not powerful enough to read the DVDs before "two clicks" of the laser.. the Duo 2 has a problem where it will only authencate a disc up until two clicks.. basically that's when it goes to the browser screen.. if you see browser, it probably is not gonna load.

you'd have to get a new laser or a better chip.

Try to clean the laser as well..
