i had installed a duo2 in my unit i was kind of mad that some new stuff like codebreaker v9 would not boot off a copie disc i made. i ripped that chip quicky out my ps2 installed a ***4 PRO
when i would want to boot backups of ps1 games with the duo2 it would once in a while boot. with my new chip not a problem stick my disc in and it boots in secs not having to deal with that is one of the best things i would have to say.
in my eyes i dont like the duo2 chip. but thats just my thought and how it worked with my version 7
the install is nice and fast but i would just add a bit more $$$ and get a better chip out there something that is flashable and that can be upgraded in the near future if some games start using protection like the codebreaker and other companys out there.
i never had the duo2 se so i dont know whats the big update comparied to the duo2. maybe they fixed some problems they had with the duo2

hmm well i want to go cheaer than 60 dollars
duo 2 one of the easiest chip to install. just watch out for the for the all the pins, make sure they're not touching. make sure u have a desolder braid. its very useful.
i belive many ppl dont understand what a duo2 chip can and cant do..
cant do = direct boot.
Allways has worked fine for me..
only chip i do install, easy and quick, no complais about any thing..
And on v12 there is the ice code that works on the duo2
well recomended.

DUO 2 SE?s are great and cheap. For $15 you can?t beat?em and nothing is easier. Not to be confused with the older DUO 2?s that you can?t even get anywhere. I?ve installed many in V7&9?s with absolutely no problems. Everything direct boots. Switching to PS1 & DVD mode is simple and easy. Allows swapping for gamesharks and Media Player!! Only on V10 boards will it not allow for swapping, I think.
Can you boot games from the browser whit the duo2 se ?
Cus i cant whit the old duo2, but allways works in ps2 dvd mode eject / press reset to start game.
Ist ok for the price of the chip :-)
Netmech reported to have been able to boot a game from the browser with a V7 he modded. I don't think I've ever done that myself.
The Duo is definitely the best chip for a beginner regardless of the version of PS2 you may be modding. It was the first chip I used and I installed it on a V2 and got it to work with no issues. I think the fastest install I've done was on a V10, a little bit over 30 minutes excluding the Romeo Mod and without pre-cut wires.
so i cant direct boot thats what i heard out of one of the posts in here and then i heard it can direct boot so which one im confused
