Dunno wat to do now?!?!

Well I got to the point where I sent my v9 with dms3 to some local installer to get done, but turns out his work seemed worse than mine!.. wires were all over the place, and he used the via's on the back of the mobo(not that I'm saying anyting is wrong with it) as I had tried to initially solder to the chip legs. Anyways, it boots to a black screen now. I am able to put the chip to sleep and boot my original games. I did notice he used the normal kynar 30awg for the power and ground, and they are "quite" long.. his reason was that he never had any problems before with that gauge. I doubled up on the wire with another 30awg piece for the ground and power.. is this ok? or should I replace it with some 22awg? also I tried the ground wrap of the d & e wire and I'm still getting black screens :( someone please help!!!..

You know I was getting the Black screen and thought that it had something to do with the D & E grounding, I constantly got black screen no matter wat I did, then I turned off the CHIP and saw that my PS2 was okay, I was releaved, anyways usually why u get black screen and you know that everything is okay, hit X when u reset the system, that got mine working.

Hmmmm no luck I just tried that.. any other suggestions?

Try Seprating the wires D E do not ground them or anything just away from others, also is ur ps2 working when it is in sleep mode

Yes my ps2 does work fine when I put it into sleep mode.. ie I can play Original games... could it be a faulty chip?!?!?.. i'm getting close to the point of giving up on this stupid dms3, and just getting one of the cheaper chips, ie magic 5, etc??! from another one of the local installers...

If you could post a picture of the install that would be most helpfull. Have a look at their site under 'install support' and 'working installs' there's a bunch of pics posted of V9's that work. Use them as a model for how your install should look. The chip is unusually picky about wire placement. You should definently use a 22awg wire for ground. Either that or save yourself the troubleshooting and use any other chip that is less picky about wire placement. Most of the solder points are the same from chip to chip so not really too hard to pull the DMS and replace it with something else.

Will try and post a pic later on when I get home tonite, but yeah it looks a MESS!!! from the looks of it, this might have been the first DMS3 that this installer has done even though he tells me he's done them before.. things such as using normal 30AWG kynar for ground and power, as well as all the wires crossing like there's no tommorrow made me think otherwise.. If I was to just call it quits and get a chip from one of the local installers, I think most of them are flogging off Magic's, are these ok? I think at this point i could settle with somethign that just plays backups and not worry about the rest of the DMS3 features..

If you've replaced D & E wires with twisted and grounded and still got a black screen, try this:

Open your console, put a small piece of paper/plastic to cover the modchip up, so when you put every thing back, the DMS3 chip doesn't have direct contact to the metal plate after you tighten the screws on the bottom cover.

Please, don't ditch the DMS3 because of some stupid monkey inexperimented installer.

Msun, I'm testing it without the cover on, basicaly just the plastic sheet inbetween the power supply board and the main board.. will it not work without the metal plate screwed into place?!?..

I called up another "monkey" and told him my situation, and he said that the other installer places around the area (i'm in perth and it seems there aren't any decent installers that I can find here) have had troubles before and brought them to him to get working which he claims he can.. $150 to do it though, but I only pay him if it works.. *sigh*...
